I’m fully in prep mode for Burning Man this year and starting to feel the crunch. See, a little over a week ago I was offered an early entry pass in return for hauling an art project out there for someone and a few hours of setup work. Our camp didn’t register this year because most everyone was ambivalent about even going until a month ago, so we didn’t get placement by Burning Man staff. Once we got talking about it, our camp grew from 5-6 people going out there as simply as possible, to a 30-person camp, complete with 90′ shade structure and an ten thousand pound art car. Without early placement this meant finding and claiming a spot of that size on first-come first served basis would be very difficult. So, me and Sallie will be ninja-staking out a suitable camping spot as soon as we are able and crossing our fingers that the BRC rangers don’t make a fuss.
I’m really excited about getting out there early and experiencing Burning Man for 12 days but I’ve got a week less of prep time than most, and for someone that was on the fence until 3 weeks ago that aint good. I’ve set my self a plan to make one shopping run a night, and complete 3 minor projects a night until its all done. Wish me luck!
